The Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies presents Aria di Follia, a Rome-based ensemble made up of four musicians with exceptionally multifaceted experiences in the fields of music and political engagement. The name “Aria di Follia,” or “Air of Folly,” represents the richness and variety that characterizes the group’s repertoire and performing style, ranging from subtle sweetness to intense desperation, embracing a wide emotional spectrum. The group’s large repertoire is centered around early Italian Baroque and traditional folk music. They have performed in Austria, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and throughout Italy, and published the CD Yo soy la locura. Performers include: Theresia Bothe, soprano, Simone Colavecchi, Baroque guitar, Luigi Polsini, viola da gamba and Paolo Rossetti Murittu, percussion.

This performance will take place at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, in FA-Casadesus Recital Hall. This concert is free, open to the public and sponsored by the Binghamton University Music Department.
