The Phelps Mansion is proud to present the Southern Tier Actors Read ( S.T.A.R.) production of  THESE SHINING LIVES,  a play written by Melanie Marnich, on June 30th, July 1st, and July 2nd.

Based on the true story of four women in the 1920’s and 30’s, THESE SHINING LIVES follows Catherine Donohue and her coworkers in a watch factory, as they paint the hour markings onto watch dials using a radium compound which glows in the dark. The Radium Dial Company assures them that there is no evidence that radium is harmful.  This production chronicles the strength and determination of women considered expendable in their day. It is a tale of resilience and triumph, as the women refuse to allow the company that stole their health to kill their spirits or endanger the lives of those who came after them.

The production stars Suzanne Brigham, Kathleen Cook, Lisa Dutcher, Gary Hansen, Elizabeth Hotalen, Rick Kumpon, John Montgomery, Chris Nickerson, and Kirsten Whistle. The production is directed by Barbara Vartanian. Tickets are $15. Call the Phelps Mansion at 607-722-4873 to reserve your seats.
