St. Petersburg Men's Ensemble sings of Russian traditions

The St. Petersburg (Russia) Men's Ensemble presented a concert of a cappella Russian sacred and folk music Dec. 4 at First United Methodist Church in Endicott. The group, consisting of tenors Evgeny Vishnevsky and Vadim Smantsev, baritone and director Kirill Sokolov and bass Sergey Shapinskiy, sang an antiphon, troparion and other sacred anthems and liturgical music, including the Kedrov Otce Nas (Lord's Prayer). The second half of the program featured 10 traditional Russian folk songs, including the familiar "Carol of the Bells" by Mykola Leontovych.
