As a holiday present to the community, Tri-Cities Opera is offering a free streaming concert for the month of December, company officials have announced.

The hour-long special, billed as Gather Together: A Musical Potluck, will feature performances by TCO alumni, current resident artists and students in the Masters in Opera program at Binghamton University, TCO General Director John Rozzoni said. They will perform a mixture of Broadway songs, pop tunes, opera standards and holiday favorites,

“We want this to be something to enjoy watching with the entire family,” Rozzoni said.

The special will debut at 3 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 5). To view the premiere, people can register up until the day of the event at TCO’s website, www.tricitiesopera.com. Afterwards, it will be available (through Dec. 31) via the website and TCO’s Facebook page.

The special is modeled on TCO’s successful Cocoa and Carols event offered last year. But the production values are higher this year, Rozzoni said. TCO’s website is promoting Gather Together as “a joyful reminder that, across all cultures and most holidays, we celebrate by assembling with friends and family over delicious meals.”

TCO resident artist alums Tesia Kwarteng and Jake Stamatis will host the special as they return to the togetherness of a holiday meal, Rozzoni said.

“It’s our way of giving back to the community, in a sense. We all need a little bit of cheer and encouragement at this time,” he said.
