BCAC Announces $222,698 in Grants for 2018
The Broome County Arts Council (BCAC) is awarding $222,698 in United Cultural Funds (UCF) grants this year to 19 local arts organizations, community non-profits, and individual artists. For 2018, UCF grants will help support the operations of 5 major arts organizations, as well as 14 community non-profit and individual artist projects. Funded projects range from poetry to art exhibits, choral concerts to preservation of historic art, photography to musicals, and original theater productions to film festivals.
Major donors, whose charitable gifts help make UCF grants possible, include the Stewart W. & Willma C. Hoyt Foundation, Broome County Government, the Dr. G. Clifford & Florence B. Decker Foundation, the Miller S. & Adelaide S. Gaffney Foundation, the IBM Corporation, the Security Mutual Life Insurance Co. of New York, BGM Foundation, Tyrone Muse, Lyubov and Dorollo Nixon, Jr., Columbian Financial Group, NBT Bank, and other local businesses and individuals who believe in the value of arts investment. The 2018 Campaign raised a total of $268,774, 85% of which is allocated to this year’s grant awards. BCAC receives 15% for administration. Last year, UCF grantees collectively returned more than $4 million dollars to Broome County’s economy. Since 1987, the Broome County Arts Council’s United Cultural Fund has distributed $10,207,020 to the Arts in Broome County, serving over 100,000 residents!
