2024 PURSUIT Schedule

Expand creativity and reignite passions with PURSUIT classes and workshops at Artisan Gallery. All classes will be held in the Broome County Arts Council classroom, Artist Studio, or Artisan Gallery, located at 223 State Street, Binghamton.

Prices vary by class. Art classes are for adults, unless otherwise indicated. Classes at BCAC require minimum registration to proceed as well as maximum participant capacity. Schedules are subject to change. If you are interested in a class, early registration helps us plan accordingly. Thanks for your understanding!

Open Figure Drawing

Join us in the gallery for open figure drawing with a live model. Bring your favorite drawing supplies; easels provided. Cost includes model fee. Sessions may feature nude models. All skill levels welcome. Class space is limited.

Ancient Painting Techniques

Use ancient techniques to create contemporary art paintings.

This workshop will present how to use ancient techniques (eggs, tempera) to create contemporary art. Since every artist has a different cultural background, participants will learn how to use elements from their culture to create. Find your unique way into the art world through various techniques like drawing and painting on paper, canvas or any other medium. Participants will work through thumbnails until the piece is ready to be presented.

Supplies: Tempera, eggs, pigments, gold leaf, acrylic, painting brushes, charcoal, wood board or canvas

SmARTphone Photography: For iPhones AND Androids

Androids and iPhone users can come away from this workshop able to make beautiful Smartphone photos and videos, from representational to abstract. You will learn to apply photo fundamentals with the best image-capture and editing apps. How-to demonstrations are reinforced with photo exercises between classes. Participants can share photos during supportive review sessions. Beautiful, magical things happen in our lives every day. What better way to record and share them than with the camera that’s with you all day long. Fine art photographer JW Johnston is your instructor.
