The Broome County Arts Council (BCAC), has awarded $239,575 in United Cultural Fund (UCF) grants this year to 21 local arts organizations, community non-profits, and individual artists. BCAC announced the funding at a March 12th news conference at its 5th floor gallery space at 81 State Street in downtown Binghamton. 2015 UCF grants will help support the operations of 7 major arts organizations, as well as 13 community non-profit and individual artist projects. Funded projects range from choral music to dance, classes to concerts, photography to printmaking, theatre productions to poetry and film festivals. UCF grants are supported by contributions from local foundations, corporations, businesses, individuals, and by the Broome County government. The 2015 Campaign raised a total of $282,953, of which 85% is allocated to grant awards. BCAC receives 15% for administration.

Established to sustain the arts in Broome County, the UCF is the only active, locally-funded, combined campaign for the arts in south-central New York, and one of only 7 such programs in New York state. Major donors who invested in BCAC’s campaign for UCF 2015 include the Hoyt Foundation, Broome County government, Decker Foundation, Gaffney Foundation, M & T Bank, IBM, The Akel Family, Excellus Health Plan, Security Mutual, Gene and Judy Peckham, NBT Bank, Columbian Financial Group, Sentry Alarms, and a host of of other business and individuals.
