For the 22nd year, downtown Binghamton will be filled with the sounds of rock, pop and blues when Blues on the Bridge returns on Saturday (Sept. 14). Best of all, it’s free to attend!
The event is centered around the South Washington Street Bridge. Organizers Donny Wilkins and Tom Martinos expect anywhere from 2,500 to 5,000 people to attend. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
Blues on the Bridge started as a plan to give talented local bands a larger stage and a bigger audience than they have at bar gigs. Since then, it has blossomed into a full-fledged festival with thousands of attendees and dozens of vendors.
The regional flavor of the event has remained, however, and all the musical acts for 2024 hail from the Southern Tier and Central New York. Here is the performance schedule:
Noon: Rob Perez
12:45 p.m.: The Silvertones
1:30 p.m.: String of Pearls
2:15 p.m.: The Parlor Cats
3 p.m.: Randy McStine
4 p.m.: Yada Yadas
5 p.m.: Caviar & Grits
5:50 p.m.: Revenants with Planet Smith
7:10 p.m.: Splash
8:15 p.m.: Frostbit Blue
9:10 p.m.: Junkyard Heights
(Note: The lineup is subject to change without notice.)
More than 50 food tents and other vendors will sell their wares, and there also will be a fenced-off beer area.
A few pointers: Coolers and glass bottles are not allowed. Open container laws are in effect, as well all state and local smoking laws.
The rain date is Saturday, Sept. 21. Depending on the forecast, organizers will make the call on Friday (Sept. 13); check local media or the event’s Facebook page for any announcements: facebook.com/bluesonthebridge.
