Bad things happen in the dark. That’s the theme of the classic thriller Wait Until Dark, which opens Friday (Aug. 25) at the Chenango River Theatre in Greene.

The play, written by Frederick Knott and adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher, focuses on the battle between a blind housewife and two venal con men intent on finding a doll full of diamonds she accidentally has in her apartment.

The play, featuring Lee Remick, was a big hit on Broadway. A film, featuring Audrey Hepburn, was also a major success.

The CRT production will run through Sept. 18. Thursday-Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday performances are at 2 p.m. Tickets at $27 can be ordered at www.chenangorivertheatre.org or by calling the box office at 607-656-8499.
