Emerging Artists Award Recipients
The Broome County Arts Council held the Broome High School Emerging Artists Competition Award Recognition & Ceremony on First Friday, April 1st to celebrate the artistic talents of the 65 students from 7 Broome County High Schools with 73 works of art on display.
The Emerging Artistists Award Recipients for 2016 are:
Best of Show: Kelly Wu, “Corrina” (Pastels)

Excellence in Composition: Olivia Greene, “Breaking Free” (Acrylic)

Excellence in Line & Color: Mia Hause, “Thistle” (Markers)
Chenango Valley HS, Bob Zanot Art Teacher
Excellence in Originality: Megan Proutey, “Googly Eyes” (Watercolor & Ink)

Excellence in Use of Media: Kayla Ferris ,“Emerging” (Scratchboard)

Excellence in Level of Difficulty: Megan Canzler, “Old House” (Watercolor & Pencil)
Maine Endwell HS, Jean Burlingame Art Teacher
The judges for this year’s competition were: Legislator Karl Bernhardsen, Tina Corbin, Emily Corbin, Yvonne Lucia, Orazio Salati, and Alisha Sickler-Brunelli.
The Broome High School Emerging Artists Exhibit will be on display until April 29th, Monday-Friday from 11-5pm at 81 State Street, Suite 501, Binghamton.
