Some 200 works of hooked art will showcase the talents of local fiber artists at the biennial rug hooking show in Vestal, NY on Friday, 11/1 from 10 am to 7 pm and Saturday 11/2 from 10 am to 4 pm at the United Methodist Church at 328 Main St. in Vestal. Works include hand hooked rugs, pillows, hangings, purses, and more. Visitors will see the traditional style of rug hooking as applied to geometric designs, fine-shaded scrolls, floral rugs and realistic animals and vintage photos along with contemporary pieces expresses humor, impressionistic compositions, painterly landscapes and abstract design. Visitors will also see demonstrations of the hooked art form and other forms of fiber and textile work including felting and flax spinning. Several vendors will sell their wares including hooking and felting supplies, and books on the craft. Refreshments will be available.
