Beat back the winter doldrums Saturday (Feb. 24) at “Pops at the Forum” as the Binghamton Philharmonic Orchestra Pops present bright, brassy favorites from stage, screen and your favorite rock radio channel.
On the program are such classics as Wagner’s “Ride of the Valkyries” and Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Flight of the Bumblebee” as well as music from Wicked, Mary Poppins and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (with Philharmonic principal cellist Hakan Tayga).
Maestro Daniel Hege also will lead the orchestra in, among other works, Anderson’s “Bugler’s Holiday” (with the Philharmonic’s trumpet section), Williams’ march from Raiders of the Lost Ark and a rocking orchestral version of Led Zeppelin’s great 1975 song “Kashmir” (with principal percussionist Sam Lazzara).
Come early for a 2:30 p.m. performance by Nancy Wildoner on the Robert Morton theater organ
