My son and I attended the Madrigal Choir of Binghamton’s fabulous “American Masters” concert last Sunday (Oct. 20) at United Presbyterian Church (formerly First Presbyterian) in Binghamton. What a wonderful performance, focusing on four 20th century composers near and dear to our hearts: Norman Dello Joio, Samuel Barber, Morten Lauridsen and Aaron Copland!
The ambitious mix of full choral and ensemble pieces, conducted by Bruce Borton, reminded us yet again of the depth and breadth of vocal talent in this community. I wish more of the audience was of my son’s generation, not mine (or older), especially considering that Lauridsen is one of the darlings of high school choral conductors in our community.
