BC ARTS COUNCIL AWARDS $233,000 IN 2014 UCF GRANTS
The Broome County Arts Council (BCAC), located at 81 State Street, Stephens Square Bldg Suite 501, Binghamton announced United Cultural Fund (UCF) Grants for 2014 of more than $233,000, during a Wednesday morning news conference. Grants went to sixteen arts and cultural non-profit organizations and 4 individual artists, including a composer, a playwright, a muralist and a filmmaker. UCF grants are supported by contributions to BCAC’s annual UCF Campaign. Major investors include the Hoyt Foundation, the Broome County Legislature, Decker Foundation, Gaffney Foundation, M & T Bank, IBM, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, The Akel Family, Security Mutual Life Insurance Co. of NY, Gene & Judy Peckham and other local businesses, corporations and individuals.

Broome County is one of only 7 communities in the State of New York with an active combined campaign for the arts. Now in its 27th year, the UCF is a unique community resource whose recipients last year returned about $4 million to Broome County’s economy, generated significant income for other businesses, and supported about 1,500 full, part-time and contract jobs.
