About Tony Villecco

I am a native of the area having lived in my family home in Tunnel, NY, twenty minutes outside of Binghamton. I am a tenor soloist, arts writer for the BCAC Arts Mirror and vocal adjudicator for NYSSMA (New York State Schools Music Assoc.) I have performed locally in musical theatre and recital/classical music/opera with SRO, (Former) Cider Mill Playhouse, Darkhorse Dramatists, Studio 271, STAR (Southern Tier Actor's Read), Tri-Cities Opera, both SUNY Broome and Binghamton University, (former) Syracuse Symphony and the Oratorio Society of New York. I earned my BA in English Lit and Creative Writing from Binghamton where I studied with world renowned poet Ruth Stone. My articles have appeared in School Music news, Classical Singer and online in OperaWire. My first book, Silent Stars Speak, was published to critical acclaim in 2001 by McFarland and my latest book, POLA NEGRI-THE HOLLYWOOD YEARS, was released in 2017. A classically trained tenor, I have studied voice with the internationally recognized soprano Virginia Zeani and have sung under American composer Dan Locklair.
