Join us for live music this First Friday, August 2nd in our Artisan Gallery! This month we are pleased to have the talented Jeff Guevin & Taze Yanick setting the weekend mood with Light Jazz.

This event coincides with the opening of our new exhibition, “Vibrant Ground,” and we hope you’ll join us for both!

Jeff Guevin was born in Hawaii and grew up in California and Oregon.  He took up the double bass in high school, and studied music at Whitman College and Cornell University (where he received his A.B. in 1996). Since then, he has worked as a software developer in upstate NY and Ann Arbor, MI, moving to the Binghamton area in 2007. He has played locally with the Doug Beardsley Trio, the Mason Warrington Orchestra, Don Godfrey and Friends, Miles Ahead, Enerjee Jazz Trio, Swing Street Jazztet, and Nexus Trio. He now splits his time between Binghamton and NYC with his wife Anna, who is a philosophy professor at Brooklyn College, and their giant rabbit Snufkin.

Taze Yanick was born and raised in Seattle. He moved to Binghamton from Ohio to attend graduate school in philosophy at BU, where he got his M.A. He taught as an adjunct professor for a few semesters, then moved around some more, eventually landing again in Binghamton. He is active in several local musical communities, e.g., Adam Ate the Apple, Lutheran Skirts, and Salsa Libre, and he regularly attends poetry open mics. He is currently preparing to release an album of his original jazz compositions.
