Broome County Arts Council is pleased to announce the 2014 Heart of the Arts Awards Celebration & $10K Challenge to be held Monday, September 22nd at the DoubleTree by Hilton in downtown Binghamton.   It’s the 10th year for the event, which honors individuals who have made significant contributions to and impact on the arts in Broome County.   BCAC issued a Call for Nominations today, inviting all members of the public to submit candidates for recognition by 5:00pm June 20th.   Instructions and official nominating forms can be downloaded at http://www.broomearts.org/2014-heart-of-the-arts-awards/.   To request hard copies, e-mail information@broomearts.org or call 607-723-4620.
This year’s Heart of the Arts Award Celebration is also a fundraiser and proceeds will be used to meet what BCAC is calling the “$10 K Challenge” from a generous donor to raise $10,000 from new donors for the 2015 United Cultural Fund Campaign.  BCAC’s UCF Campaign funds competitive grants to local arts and cultural organizations and individual artists.   Tickets are $45 per person, $40 per person for BCAC Members and may be reserved on-line at broomearts.org.   A Heart of the Arts Raffle to be drawn during the September 22nd event offers 6 chances to win original works by painters, Joanne Thorne Arnold,  Aubrey Clark, Susan Kendrot, and Orazio Salati;  by potter Fern Pritikin Lynn; and by VanZandbergen Photography.   Raffle tickets go on sale June 6th during Binghamton’s First Friday Art Walk at two BCAC’s gallery space located at 81 State Street, 5th Floor, Stephens Square Building AND at a special table in front of Atomic Tom’s gallery on Artist’s Row on State, between Lewis & Henry Streets.  Raffle tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20.   You don’t have to be present at the September 22nd drawing to win.
