End of an era at TCO

FUNERAL INFORMATION UPDATED

Surviving Tri-Cities Opera co-founder Peyton Molyneaux Hibbitt passed away early this afternoon (March 1) at his home in Binghamton. The 2008 BCAC Heart of the Arts Lifetime Achievement Award winner was 93.

Hibbitt and the late Carmen Savoca started TCO in 1949. The community opera group grew into a training company of international renown.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 9, at 11:00 a.m. at Main Street Baptist Church, 117 Main St., Binghamton. Arrangements for calling hours and burial have not yet been completed. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Main Street Baptist Church; to the Alzheimer’s Association, 401 Hayes Ave., Endicott, NY 13760; or to the local charity of your choice.
