At 3 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 15), the Binghamton Philharmonic Orchestra will open its 2023-2024 Garufi Law, P.C. Phelps Mansion Museum Series with a concert by the Dolphins Quartet.

The Dolphins – Luke Henderson and Isaac Park, violin; James Preucil, viola, and Ian Maloney, cello – are a rising string quartet based at the Juilliard School in New York City. Known for their dynamic performances of the classics of the string quartet repertoire, as well as their commitment to new works by living composers, the Dolphins have performed to acclaim at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center; the Kneisel Hall Festival in Blue Hill, Maine, and Music from Angel Fire in New Mexico.

Equally dedicated to bringing music to the wider community, the quartet helped launch the Music for the Future educational campaign for Project: Music Heals Us, an initiative that brings music programs to incarcerated students. In 2024, the Dolphins will visit universities and conservatories throughout the United States to perform and work with students on quartets and improvisation.

The Dolphins’ program Sunday will include Haydn’s String Quartet, Op. 20, No. 2 in C Major, Beethoven’s String Quartet, Op. 18, No. 1 in F Major and a self-composed work, The Dolphins Miniatures for String Quartet. The concert will take place at the Phelps Mansion Museum, 191 Court St., Binghamton.

General admission tickets are $25. For more information, call the Binghamton Philharmonic box 0ffice at 607-723-3931, or visit www.binghamtonphilharmonic.org.
